TRINITY MEN’S BASKETBALL
DOWNS MIDDLEBURY

Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore guard John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 76-69 win over the visiting Middlebury College Panthers in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s basketball action this afternoon at Ray Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the NESCAC, while the Panthers drop to 10-6 overall and 0-3 in the league

Trinity trailed 39-36 at half, as Panther senior co-captain forward Eric Bundonis (Fairfield, Conn.) scored 17 first half points and Middlebury connected on seven three-point shots.  In the second half, the Panther shooters went cold, missing all 10 of their three-point attempts and totaling a 32.3 shooting percentage for the half (10-31). 

Five Bantams scored in double figures, including senior tri-captain forward Corey Days (Baltimore, Md.) with 15 points, junior guard Shaun Smyth (Manchester, Conn.) who totaled 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench.  Sophomore guard Jesse Farrell (Minneapolis, Minn.) added 11 points, 12 assists, and five boards, and freshman forward Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.) tallied 10 points and eight caroms for the Bantams.  Bundonis and junior forward Nate Anderson (Hinesburg, Vt.) finished with 24 points and five rebounds apiece for Middlebury.
