DAYS AND RHOTEN GIVE TRINITY HOOPS
WIN IN NESCAC OPENER AT BOWDOIN
Brunswick, Maine- Senior tri-captain forward Corey Days (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman forward Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.) combined for 41 points and 16 rebounds to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 78-64 win over the Bowdoin College Polar Bears in the New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s basketball opener for both teams this evening. The Bantams improve to 9-4 overall and 1-0 in the NESCAC with their third straight win, while Bowdoin drops to 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the league with its fifth loss in a row.
Trinity grabbed an 11-point halftime lead thanks to 56 percent field goal shooting in the first half. The Bantams improved on that total in the second frame, connecting on nearly 58% of the shots and cruising to victory. Rhoten had a game-high 23 points and six rebounds, and Days added 18 points, making nine out of 10 shots from the field, and grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.
Kyle Petrie (Iowa City, Iowa) scored the Polar Bears' first 12 points and ended with 20 points overall. T.J. McLeod (Gorham, Maine) had a solid game, scoring 14 points off the bench for Bowdoin.
