BABSON DEFEATS TRINITY MEN'S HOOPS
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman center Tyler Rhoten (Ridgewood, N.J.) scored a team-high 14 points and added five rebounds for the Trinity College Bantams in a 73-54 loss to the visiting Babson College Beavers in men’s basketball action this evening at Ray Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity falls to 6-4 with their first defeat in their last five games, while the Beavers improve to an impressive 10-1.
Trinity trailed 34-25 at the half, and a 9-0 run by the Beavers to begin the second half put the game out of reach for the Bantams. Trinity pulled to within single digits late in the game, but the Beavers held off the late rally, countering with a run of their own to win by 19 points.
Senior tri-captain forward Corey Days (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore guard John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) also chipped in double figures for the Bantams. Days notched 11 points, nine boards, and a pair of blocked shots, while Halas added 10 points and sophomore guard Jesse Farrell (Minneapolis, Minn.) dished out seven assists for Trinity.
The Babson attack was led by sophomore guard Jeff Nicholson (Methuen, Mass.), who had 23 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. Jeff Hines (Waltham, Mass.) and Luke Webber (Highland Mills, N.Y.) also scored in double figures for the Beavers with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
