TABB LEADS TRINITY MEN’S HOOPS TO
WIN AGAINST CONNECTICUT COLLEGE

Hartford, Conn.- Senior tri-captain swingman Colin Tabb (Somers, Conn.) notched a game-high 27 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four steals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 71-68 win over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men’s basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.

Trinity improves to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the NESCAC with its second straight win, while the Camels drop to 12-8 overall and 3-3 in the league first loss in the last three games.

Trinity shot 52 percent from the field in the first half to open up a 71-68 lead heading into intermission. Tabb led a balanced Bantam scoring attack over the first 20 minutes with nine points, while senior tri-captain forward Bryan Dion (East Haven, Conn.) and freshman reserve guard John Halas (White Plains, N.Y.) scored eight points each.

In the second half, the Camels stayed within striking distance, cutting the Bantam lead to two points twice. After a Tabb three-pointer from the corner put Trinity ahead by five in the final minute, Connecticut College senior forward Rich Futia (Greenwich, Conn.) made a three-pointer to make the score 70-68 in Trinity’s favor.

After two missed free throws by Trinity senior center Rick Hein (Bolton, Conn.), the Camels had a chance to tie or go ahead with 13 seconds remaining. Camel senior center Dave Brown (New York, N.Y.) missed an awkward lay-up with three seconds left and Tabb gathered the rebound to secure the Trinity victory.

Tabb made seven out of 10 shots from the field and 11 out of 12 from the foul line to account for his 27 points, and Dion finished with 15 points and 10 boards for the Bantams. Futia led four Camels in double figures with 17 points, along with nine rebounds, while Brown scored 14 points off the bench, senior forward Leland McKenzie (Litchfield, Conn.) recorded 11 points and nine rebounds, and junior guard Joe Tremblay (Lebanon, Conn.) contributed 10 points off the pine.
