DION LEADS TRINITY MEN'S HOOPS TO WIN OVER VILLA JULIE

Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Brian Dion (East Haven, Conn.) totaled 21 points and 12 rebounds to
lead the Trinity College Bantams to an 95-74 win over the visiting Villa Julie College Mustangs in men’s basketball action this evening. Trinity improves to 7-2 and the Mustangs fall to 3-11.

The Bantams, who were coming off a 24-point loss at Springfield in which they shot just 29 percent from the field, rebounded with an outstanding shooting performance of 57 percent (37-65). Trinity jumped ahead, 19-4, as junior forward Rick Hein (Bolton, Conn.) scored nine of Trinity's first 16 points.

Villa Julie battled back and trailed Trinity, 40-34, at the half. The Mustangs cut the lead to two points at 43-41, early in the second half, before the Bantams built the lead back to 11 points on a three-pointer by senior guard Scott Wallach (Scarsdale, N.Y.) with 10:15 left in the game.

Dion made 10 of his 13 field goal attempts and Hein made seven out of eight to finish with a career-high 16 points, along with seven boards. Junior forward Colin Tabb (Somers, Conn.) had 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Wallach notched 13 points and senior guard Michael LaBella (Middletown, Conn.) had 11 points and six assists for the Bantams.

Junior forward Brian Hubbard (Baltimore, Md.) paced Villa Julie with 16 points and added nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Steve Johnson (Baltimore, Md.), senior guard Ayinde Edwards (Randallstown, Md.), and freshman forward Mike Kastinakis (Baltimore, Md.) all joined Hubbard in double figures with 14, 12, and 11 points, respectively. The Mustangs shot just 34 percent from the field for the game. Villa Julie, which had just one player above 6-foot-3, totaled 32 rebounds to 51 for the Bantams.
