FLAHERTY LEADS TUFTS MEN’S BASKETBALL
TO COMEBACK WIN OVER TRINITY

Medford, Mass.- Senior center Dan Flaherty (Fairfield, Conn.) scored a team-high 23 points to lead the Tufts University Jumbos to a 79-77 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference men’s basketball action this evening. Trinity falls to 11-3 and 2-1 in the NESCAC with its first loss in the last six games, while the Jumbos improve to 13-3 and 2-0 in the league.

Tufts outscored Trinity, 9-0, over the final 4:15 of the game, after the Bantams had led by as many as 11 points in the second half and 14 in the first half.

Trinity took a 77-70 lead with 4:15 to go on a three-point basket by senior guard Mike Keohane (Belmont, Mass.). The Jumbos took the lead for good on two free throws by senior forward Tom Bernier (West Roxbury, Mass.) with 2:24 remaining in the game.

Senior guard Scott Wallach (Scarsdale, N.Y.) came off the bench to score 18 points for the Bantams, tying junior forward Colin Tabb (Somers, Conn.) as Trinity’s high scorer. Junior forward Brian Dion (East Haven, Conn.) notched 13 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for Trinity.

Freshman guard Phil Barlow (Arlington, Mass.) joined Flaherty in double figures in scoring for Tufts with 17 points, along with six assists. Senior guard Bobby Mpuku (Westport, Conn.) added 15 points and nine boards for the Jumbos.
