TRINITY SWEEPS BANTAM X-COUNTRY
INVITATIONAL BEHIND BAK AND KANE
Manchester, Conn.- Men’s senior co-captain Ryan Bak (Suffield, Conn.) and women’s sophomore Christina Kane (Springfield, Mass.) each finished in first to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a pair of first-place finishes at the 10th annual Bantam Invitational Men's and Women’s Cross Country Meet this afternoon at Wickham Park.
The Bantam men’s team finished first overall in the first Bantam Invitational with a distance of 5,000 meters for the fourth consecutive year with a score of 32 points, followed by NYU with 44 points and King’s Point with 80 points. The Bantam women finished first with a score of 22 points, followed by Division I Sacred Heart with 42 points, and Southern Connecticut State University with 87 points. The women’s race was a 4,000-meter course.
Bak finished with a time of 15:26, which was 35 seconds ahead of the second place runner, followed by fellow senior co-captain Jim Emord (Bridgewater, Mass.) in third place at 16:10. Trinity sophomore James Sullivan (Sterling, Mass.) placed sixth at 16:24. Closely behind Kane were Bantam junior Karen Roy (Ashford, Conn.), and senior co-captains Kate Klein (Huntington, Vt.), and Leeann Rheaume (Pittsfield, Mass.). finishing in third through fifth, respectively.
