BANTAMS RUN WELL AT CODFISH
BOWL CROSS COUNTRY MEET
Boston, Mass. - Junior Leeann Rheaume (Pittsfield, Mass) finished eighth overall to help the Trinity College Bantams finish fourth in the at the 34th annual Codfish Bowl women’s cross-country meet this afternoon at Franklin Park The Trinity men, helped by an 11th-place finish by junior James Emord (Bridgewater, Mass.), finished third in the men’s meet.
The Bantam men, ranked No. 23 in the nation, took third place with 86 points, which was 11 behind second- place MIT (ranked No. 8 in the nation) and 33 points ahead of fourth-place Amherst. Division II Mass.-Lowell won the meet with 51 points. The Trinity women, also ranked No. 23 in the nation, totaled 109 points, just three behind third-place Northern Colorado and six ahead of fifth-place Wesleyan.
Rheaume ran a time of 19:01.9, followed closely by freshman Christina Kane (Springfield, Mass.) at 19:04.4 in 10th place, and sophomore Kristina DePeau (Stafford, Conn.) in 17th place at 19:33.3.
Emord finished with a time of 26:25.5 and classmate Steven Coakley (South Windsor, Conn.) placed 16th with a time of 26:36.2. Three other Trinity runners, sophomore Jonathan Drappi (West Boyslton, Mass.), freshman James Sullivan (Sterling, Mass.), and junior Ryan Lerner (Manchester, Conn.) finished in the top 21. Trinity finished third as a team despite competing without top runner and junior co-captain Ryan Bak (Suffield, Conn.) who skipped the meet due to sickness.
