WILLIAMS DEFEATS TRINITY FOOTBALL

Williamstown, Mass.- Junior quarterback Joe Reardon (Arlington, Va.) threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns while the defensive unit picked off three passes to lead the Williams College Ephmen to a 30-13 victory over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in football action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 1-1 on the season, while Williams improves to 2-0.

Trinity moved the ball well into Eph territory on consecutive drives in the first quarter but came up empty on a pair of missed field goals. Williams got the scoring started early in the second quarter with Reardon hooking up with senior wide receiver Ryan Friend (Bedford, Mass.) on an 18-yard touchdown pass. Friend led Williams with 10 catches for 120 yards. The Trinity defense gave a valiant effort but surrendered two more Williams’ scores, a field goal by senior Scott Farley (Williamstown, Mass.) and a Reardon touchdown pass to John Siff (Concord, N.H.) before halftime to give Williams a 16-0 advantage at intermission.

In the third quarter, Reardon threw for two more scores and Williams stretched the lead to30-0. The Bantam bright spot in the game was an outstanding effort by freshman running-back Brad Davis (Marlborough, N.H.), who rushed for 157 yards on nine carries including an 85-yard touchdown run that illustrated his breakaway speed. Senior quarterback Pat Marinaro (Palo Alto, Calif.) threw the first touchdown of his college career off the bench, hooking up with classmate Kevin Waters (Garden City, NY) on a 20-yard strike in the fourth quarter.
