PFEIFFENBERGER GOAL GIVES WESLEYAN
WIN AGAINST TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY
Middletown, Conn.- Senior forward Laura Pfeiffenberger (Hollis, Maine) scored the game’s only goal to lead the Wesleyan University Cardinals to a 1-0 win over the visiting Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 3-10 overall and 2-6 in the NESCAC with its third straight loss, all by a single goal. Wesleyan improves to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the league.
Pfeiffenberg took the ball down the left side of the field, before cutting to the center and firing a shot into the Bantam goal with 7:15 left to play in the second half. Cardinal senior co-captain goalie Lindsay Wasserman (Branford, Conn.) made nine saves to record the shutout, while junior netminder Gwen Gillespie (Bratenahl, Ohio) had seven stops for Trinity.
