LATIFF LIFTS TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY
TO THIRD STRAIGHT OT WIN
Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Jennifer Latiff (Rosemont, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the visiting Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon at Robin L. Sheppard Field. The Bantams improve to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the NESCAC with their third straight win, all in overtime. Tufts drops to 2-7 overall and 2-3 inn the league with its fifth consecutive loss.
The Bantam broke a scoreless tie 19:09 into the second half thanks to a goal by senior co-captain defender Susan Hoppock (Chevy Chase, Md.). The Jumbos tied the score with 1:02 remaining in regulation on a goal by sophomore forward Jenny Sachs (Englewood, Colo.) from senior tri-captain forward Dana Chivvis (New Canaan, Conn.). Latiff converted on a pass from Hoppock 3:50 into the extra frame for the game-winner. Trinity junior goalie Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio) had 11 saves, while Jumbo senior backstop Lauren Rufino (Pleasantville, N.Y.) stopped 12 Trinity shots.
