FRESHMAN FRENCH LIFTS TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY TO FIRST WIN IN OT

 

New London, Conn.- Freshman forward Caitlin French (Rye, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal 18 seconds into overtime to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon.  Trinity improves to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the NESCAC, while the Camels fall to 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Trinity junior Kristen Grabowski (Burlington, Conn.) added a goal and assisted on the game-winner for the Bantams.  Junior forward Emily Huffman (Oklahoma City, Okla.) accounted for the Camel goal, her third of the season.  Kate Reardon (Newton, Mass.) and Ashley Kenerson (Wenham, Mass.) had five saves apiece for the Camels, while junior Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio) had nine stops for the winning side, logging the complete game victory.

After a scoreless opening half, Huffman put the Camels on top with an unassisted tally with 18:43 to play.  Later in the half with a little over nine minutes remaining, Grabowski netted the equalizer, allowing the game to move to overtime.
