TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY LOSES FIRST GAME ON TURF
Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore midfielder Ashley Perez (Worcester, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Clark University Cougars to a 2-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in field hockey action this evening. The game was the first of the season for Trinity which falls to 0-1, and its first ever on a new AstroTurf surface under the lights. Clark improves to 2-1.
Trinity senior captain Susan Hoppock (Chevy Chase, Md.) scored Trinity's only goal 11:39 into the game on a penalty stroke. The goal was the first of the season for Trinity, as well as the first goal in the history of the new AstroTurf field.
Junior goalie Gwen Gillespie (Bratenahl, Ohio) had three saves for Trinity while Jesse Egan (Peperell, Mass.) paced Clark with eight saves. The Clark defense allowed Trinity only three shots in the second half and Egan did not have to attempt a save.
