GRATRY AND JACOBS GIVE TRINITY
FIELD HOCKEY WIN OVER COLBY
Hartford, Conn. -- Freshman forward Beatrice Gratry (Chagrin falls, Ohio) notched two goals and an assist to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 win over the visiting Colby College White Mules in field hockey action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 5-5 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC for the season, while the Mules fall to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the league.
The teams played to a 2-2 tie after one half. Gratry assisted senior co-captain midfielder Mary Jacobs (Malvern, Pa.) on the game’s first goal and Colby freshman Wendy Bonner (Lexington, Mass.) scored unassisted to tie it.
Jacobs returned the favor with an assist to Gratry with 23:08 left in the
first half, but Colby senior midfielder Marcia Ingraham (Georgetown, Mass.)
knotted the score again at 2-2 right before halftime.
Gratry, who has scored or assisted on Trinity’s last 10 goals, scored the
game-winner with 13:05 remaining in the game. Trinity senior goalkeeper Jessica
Martin (Fort Myers, Fla.) finished with seven saves and White Mule senior
goalie Carrie Torrisi (Andover, Mass.) had eight stops.
