BUSCH LEADS AMHERST FIELD HOCKEY TO WIN AT TRINITY
Hartford, Conn. -- Senior forward Marcy Busch (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and junior forward Abigail Ouimet (Hatfield, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist to lead the visiting Amherst College Lady Jeffs to a 3-1 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the NESCAC, while Amherst, ranked No. 6 in the nation, improves to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the league.
Trinity freshman forward Beatrice Gratry (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) scored the Bantam goal to cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the first half, but Amherst sophomore Christine Ryan (Cornwall, Vt.) added an insurance goal with 2:39 remaining in the half. Both goalies held the opposition scoreless in the second half, as Bantam senior Jessica Martin (Fort Myers, Fla.) made five saves and Jeff senior keeper Beth Sensing (Hockessin, Del.) tallied six saves.
