PLYMOUTH BEATS TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY
Hartford, Conn. - Junior Megan Fournier (East Waterboro, Maine) and senior tri-captain Kara Borden (Taunton, Mass.) each scored first half goals to lead the visiting Plymouth State College Panthers to a 2-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in field hockey action this afternoon.
Trinity falls to 1-3 with their third straight loss, while the Panthers improve to 3-3 after three consecutive victories.
Fournier scored on the Plymouths first shot of the game with 27:54 remaining in the first half. Borden scored on a pass from senior Courtney OSullivan (East Kingston, N.H.) with :09 seconds left in the half.
Trinity freshman goalkeeper Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio) made three saves, while Plymouth freshman goalkeeper Ellen Ward (Thorndike, Maine) stopped 10 shots, including seven in the first half. Trinity outshot Plymouth, 12-5.
