BATES DEFEATS TRINITY FIELD HOCKEY
Hartford, Conn. Sophomore midfielder Kathrene Tiffany (Boston, MA) scored the lone goal of the game to lead the visiting Bates College Bobcats to a 1-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in field hockey action this afternoon.
Tiffany scored with 5:07 left in the first half on an assist by freshman Annie Schauer (Louiville, KY).
Freshman goalkeeper Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio) notched another fine performance, making 12 saves for the Bantams. Senior Peggy Ficks (Washington, Conn.) held on for the shutout with 12 saves.
The Bantams fell to 1-4 overall, and 0-2 in the NESCAC. With the victory, Bates improved to 3-2 overall, and 1-2 in the NESCAC.
