Head Baseball Coach Bill Decker

Trinity College

Bill Decker is entering his 13th season as head coach of the Trinity College baseball team. Since his arrival for the 1991 season, he has led the team to 12 consecutive winning seasons, a 241-130 record, three NCAA tournament bids, four ECAC tournament appearances, and consecutive bids to the NESCAC Championship tourney in 2000 and 2001.

Last spring, Decker guided Trinity to a record-setting 26-10 record, and surpassed Dan Jessee as the College’s all-time winningest baseball coach. He was the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) Coach of the Year and the American Baseball Coaches’ Association (ABCA)/Diamond Sports New England Coach of the Year in 1999.

A 1985 graduate of Ithaca College, Decker received a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in business. He also holds a master’s degree in physical education with a concentration in coaching, which he
received from his alma mater in 1992. A two-sport athlete in college, Decker was a team captain and an All-American defensive back for the Ithaca football squad. His baseball playing days, unfortunately, ended due to an injury.

During his tenure at Trinity, Decker has been an active member of the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association and is currently chairman of the Division III
All-American Selection Committee and the NEIBA All-New England Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Division III New England Regional Postseason Selection Committee, the ECAC Division III Postseason Selection Committee, and the NCAA Division III All-America Committee. In 1997, Decker was a member of the USA Baseball National Trials coaching staff.

A native of Greenfield, Mass., Decker and his wife, Nancy, and three children, Kyle, Sarah, and Kacey, reside in Simsbury, Conn.

"Our goal each year is to identify top players who are competitive by nature and live that lifestyle. One’s integrity, loyalty, work ethic, and commitment to our program and our College are essential," explains Decker. "If a young man wants to be challenged and be provided an outstanding education and baseball experience, Trinity College is the place!"
