DORR HOMERS IN EACH GAME TO LEAD TRINITY BASEBALL TO SEASON OPENING SPLIT

Fort Myers, Fla. – Senior co-captain Jayme Dorr (Osterville, Mass.) hit a home run in each game of a double header to give the Trinity College Bantam baseball team a split versus the Mount Union Purple Raiders in its season opening opening doubleheader at the Gene Cusic Classic in Cape Coral, Fla. this afternoon. Trinity won the first game, 9-4, and dropped the second game,14-6.

Junior right hander Kevin Tidmarsh (Meriden, Conn.) scattered eight hits to give Trinity a win in the first game. Senior co-captain Kurt Piantek (Wallingford, Conn.) added to his career homer record by blasting a second inning bomb on his first swing of the season. Junior Eric Shattenkirk (New Rochelle, New York) ripped the game-winning double to plate two Bantams in the sixth inning.

In the second game, sophomore Aaron Goldstein (Edina, Minn.) was 3-for-4, including his first home run of the season in a losing effort. Trinity’s record is 1-1 and Mount Union is 7-2.
