EASTERN CONNECTICUT EDGES
TRINITY BASEBALL IN THE NINTH

Hartford, Conn.- Junior right-hander Joey Serfass (Newington, Conn.) threw two innings of scoreless relief to lead the visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 6-5 win over the Trinity College Bantams in baseball action this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 4 in New England, falls to 11-6 with its first loss in the last four games, while the Warriors, ranked No. 1 in New England and in the nation, improves to 21-4 with its 13th consecutive win.

The Warriors pushed a run across in the top of the ninth to break a 5-5 tie, and Serfass retired the side in order in the bottom half of the inning. Sophomore Chris Rodday (Concord, Mass.) pitched eight innings for the Bantams, keeping the Warriors hitters off-balance and allowing three earned runs with three strikeouts.

Trinity rallied back from a 4-0 deficit with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, another in the fifth, and two more in the seventh. Sophomore Jeff Natale (Hamden, Conn.) had two doubles on the day, while senior co-captain Jayme Dorr (Osterville, Mass.) added two hits and three runs, and senior co-captain Kurt Piantek (Wallingford, Conn.) went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI.
