TRINITY BASEBALL OPENS SEASON 
WITH SWEEP OF ROGER WILLIAMS

	Fort Myers, Fla.- Senior co-captain Greg Spanos (Auburn, Mass.)
totaled five hits and four runs, while pitching six innings to post the
victory on the mound in the second game, to lead the Trinity College Bantams
to a sweep of the Roger Williams University Hawks in its baseball season
opener this afternoon at Terry Park.  Trinity pounded 20 hits to win an 18-7
decision in the opening game and erupted for seven runs in the top of the
seventh inning to win the second game, 14-5.  The games were part of the
Gene Cusic Collegiate Baseball Classic.
	Trinity scored a run in the first inning of the first game on an RBI
single by junior second baseman Kurt Piantek (Wallingford, Conn.), before
exploding for seven runs in both the second and third frames.  Piantek
sparked the second inning rally with a two-run double, while senior
outfielder Alan Andreini (Greenwich, Conn.) and junior DH Rob Dolliver
(Norwich, Conn.) each had two-run singles in the third stanza.
	In the second game, Trinity opened up a 2-0 contest with four scores
in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by senior first
baseman Nick Callini (Westfield, Mass.), to go ahead 6-0.  The Hawks touched
Spanos for three runs in the fifth frame on an RBI single by first baseman
Josh Rosen and a two-run double by Brian Robinson to cut the Bantam lead to
7-3.  Roger Williams added a fourth run in the sixth inning, but Trinity
senior co-captain shortstop Andrew Freimuth (Bristol, Conn.) tripled home
three runs to help the Bantams extend its lead to 14-4.  Roger Williams
plated a run in the seventh to account for the 14-5 final tally.
	Bantam junior right-hander Craig Tredenick (Cornwall, Prince Edward
Island) allowed three hits and three runs over five innings with seven
strikeouts to record the victory in the first game.  Spanos scattered 10
hits over six innings in the second game.  Rosen took the loss for the Hawks
in the opener, and Colin Whalen lost game two.  
	Trinity freshman Andrew Fries (Dublin, Ohio) had five hits in seven
at-bats with three RBI and three runs in his collegiate debut, while junior
third baseman Jayme Dorr (Osterville, Mass.) went 5-for-7 with four runs and
two RBI.  Trinity freshmen Aaron Goldstein (Edina, Minn.), Matt Engster
(Glastonbury, Conn.), and Robert O'Leary (Milton, Mass.) had hits in their
collegiate debuts.  Carl Melchar was 5-for-8 with three RBI for the Hawks.
