TUFTS SHOCKS TRINITY BASEBALL
Hartford, Conn.- Sophomore right-hander Jon Lee (Manhasset Hills, N.Y.) pitched a three-hit, complete game to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to a 22-0 over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference East baseball action this afternoon.
Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the New England Division III Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the nation, drops to 18-2 and 5-1 in the NESCAC with its first loss in the last 16 games. Tufts improves to 9-7-1 and 3-0 in the league with its third straight win.
The Jumbos took a 2-0 lead into the fifth inning and erupted for five runs, highlighted by a two-run homer by senior co-captain Todd Boutwell (Woburn, Mass.). Tufts scored five more runs in the sixth inning to go ahead, 12-0, and coasted the rest of the way.
