TRINITY BASEBALL SPLITS TWINBILL WITH ROGER WILLIAMS
Fort Myers, Fla.- Trinity senior co-captain right-hander Jack Richardson (Arlington, Va.) pitched a four-hitter with 12 strikeouts to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 10-3 win over the Roger Williams University Hawks in the first game of its doubleheader in the Gene Cusic Baseball Classic. Roger Williams defeated Trinity, 9-6, in the second game. The Bantams are now 3-1 for the season, while Roger Williams is 1-1.
Richardson was making his first career start on the mound after making just one pitching appearance in his first three seasons due to injuries. Trinity pounded 11 hits and scored six runs in the fifth inning to break open a 4-1 contest in the first game, but committed six errors in the second game to spoil a seven-hit performance by sophomore right-hander Craig Tredenick (Cornwall, Prince Edward Island) and junior righty Justin Olewnik (Cheshire, Conn.). The Hawks scored five runs in the fifth inning of the second game to break a 4-4 tie.
