BAYLISS ENDS TRINITY SLIDE WITH
COMPLETE GAME WIN OVER BOWDOIN BASEBALL

Brunswick, Maine - Senior right-hander Jarrett Bayliss (Williamstown, Mass.) pitched a complete game, scattering seven hits and allowing just one unearned run, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 13-1 victory over the Bowdoin College Polar Bears in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) baseball action this afternoon.

Trinity, ranked No. 4 in the New England Division III Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the nation, improves to 19-5 and 6-3 in the NESCAC while snapping a four-game losing streak. Bowdoin falls to 11-10 and 3-1 in the league.

Bayliss was backed by an 18-hit attack by the Trinity batters that erased an early one-run lead for Bowdoin. The Polar Bears took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as junior Rob Metzler (West Hartford, Conn.) reached second on a throwing error and was driven home on a single by freshman Kevin Bougie (Sanford, Maine). Bowdoin had runners on second and third in the second with no outs, but Bayliss responded with a pair of strikeouts and a grounder to escape the inning unscathed.

Bowdoin junior hurler Scott Jamieson (Marshfield, Mass.) kept the Bantams at bay for the first three innings of the game before junior Nick Callini (Westfield, Mass.) and sophomore Jayme Dorr (Osterville, Mass.) each connected for RBI singles in the fourth for a 2-1 lead. An error in the fifth cost Jamieson three unearned runs as junior Mark Mahoney (Newton, Mass.) connected for a three-RBI double to push the lead to 5-1. Trinity junior Andrew Freimuth (Bristol, Conn.) hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to drive in classmate Greg Spanos (Auburn, Mass.), who had tripled earlier in the inning.

Trinity put the game away in the seventh as back-to-back hits chased Jamieson from the game and the Bantams would finish the inning with four more runs for the 10-1 lead. A single run in the eighth and two more in the ninth finished the scoring.
