YOUNG BAYLISS LEADS TRINITY BASEBALL OVER WPI
Hartford, Conn. - Freshman righthander Jonah Bayliss (Williamstown, MA)
tossed a three-hitter to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-2 win over
the visiting Worcester Polytechnic Institute Engineers in baseball action
this afternoon.
With runners on second and third in the first inning, sophomore
leftfielder Alan Andreini (Greenwich, CT) hit a hard ground ball between
third and short. WPI shortstop Jay Katz (Merrimack, NH) came up with a
diving stop, but made an errant throw, enabling both baserunners to score.
Senior co-captain catcher Jake Miles (Lewistown, IL) had a one-out single in
the second, before sophomore second baseman Greg Spanos (Auburn, MA) singled
him home. Bayliss showed a lot of poise in the ninth, retiring the final
two batters of the game with the tying run on third base.
