YOUNG BAYLISS LEADS TRINITY BASEBALL PAST WESTERN NEW ENGLAND
Hartford, Conn.- Freshman righthander Jonah Bayliss (Williamstown, MA)
pitched six strong innings to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 14-4 win
over the Western New England College Golden Bears in baseball action this
afternoon. The victory makes Trinity 17-5 overall while New England falls to
15-11
After sophomore second baseman Greg Spanos (Auburn, MA) started the
scoring for the Bantams in the first inning on a passed ball. Sophomore
designated hitter Alan Andreini (Greenwich, CT) scored on a sacrifice fly by
senior leftfielder Todd Brodeur (Auburn, MA). Senior first baseman Brian
Powell (Holyoke, MA) and senior tri-captain outfielder James Klocek
(Grafton, MA) both hit RBI doubles to open up a 4-0 lead after the first
inning.
The Bantams put the game out of the reach in the second inning when
sophomore shortstop Andy Freimuth (Bristol, CT) scored on a double Andreini
and senior third baseman Jayson Barbarotta (Trumbull, CT) hit a three-run
homer.
Bayliss allowed two runs on two hits to earn his fifth victory of the
season.
