BAYLISS AND LEE TOSS SHUTOUTS AS TRINITY AND TUFTS EARN NESCAC SPLIT

Medford, MA - Junior righthander Jarrett Bayliss (Williamstown, MA) pitched
a three-hit shutout to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams, ranked No.
4 in New England, to an eight-inning 1-0 win and a split of a doubleheader
against the No. 3 Tufts University Jumbos in New England Small College
Athletic Conference baseball action this afternoon. 
	The split makes Trinity, which ended a six-game winning streak in an
8-0 loss in the second game, to 15-5 overall and 7-3 in the NESCAC on the
season, while Tufts, which received a two-hit shutout in the nightcap from
freshman righthander Jonathan Lee (Manhasset Hills, NY), is now 16-6 and 5-2
in the league.
	Bayliss outdueled Tufts senior captain Zack Brown (Auburn, MA) in
the first game and senior first baseman Brian Powell (Holyoke, MA) singled
home sophomore second baseman Greg Spanos (Auburn, MA) in the top of the
eight inning for the game's only run.  Spanos had led off the inning with a
single and was sacrificed to second by sophomore shortstop Andrew Freimuth
(Bristol, CT).  Bayliss faced more than three batters in an inning just
twice in the game to earn his fourth victory of the season. 
	Tufts scored five runs in the third inning off Trinity senior
starter Brendan Moss (Orange, CT) and Lee kept the Bantams hitless until the
fifth inning in the second game.  Senior centerfielder Josh Marks (Tucson,
AZ) doubled in a run and junior leftfielder Todd Boutwell (Woburn, MA)
tripled in two runs in the sixth to provide some insurance for the Jumbos.
Lee struck out eight and walked none for his third victory.
