BAYLISS LEADS TRINITY BASEBALL
PAST SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE
Hartford, Conn.- Junior righthander Jarrett Bayliss (Williamstown, MA)
pitched a three-hitter to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 6-1 win over
the Springfield College Pride in baseball action this afternoon. The victory
improves Trinity's record to 18-6 overall while Springfield dips to 15-12.
The Pride jumped to an early lead as they scored an unearned run in
the second inning. Trinity quickly answered when senior first baseman Brian
Powell (Holyoke, MA) drew a leadoff walk and senior third baseman Jayson
Barbarotta (Trumbull, CT) drove him to third with a double. Powell scored
the tying run on a wild pitch. Sophomore designated hitter Alan Andreini
(Greenwich, CT) gave Bayliss all the run support he would need when he
delivered a two-out RBI double in the third.
The Bantams put the game out of reach in the fourth as they scored
four runs. The inning featured a Jake Miles (Lewistown, IL) RBI double and
an Andreini RBI single. Trinity was able to capitalize on Springfield's two
errors in the inning.
The true story of this game was the dominating performance by
Bayliss. He was able to keep the Pride hitters off balance all day long by
throwing his devastating curve ball. He had seven strikeouts while
improving his record to 5-1.
