POWELL CARRIES TRINITY BASEBALL OVER BABSON

Wellesley, MA - Senior lefthander Brian Powell (Holyoke, MA) pitched six
strong innings and went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the visiting Trinity
College Bantams, ranked No. 4 in New England and Np. 16 in the nation, to a
15-5 win over the Babson College Beavers in baseball action this afternoon.
The victory makes Trinity 16-5 overall while Babson falls to 13-10.
The Bantams scored two runs in the first inning and two more in the
third before the Beavers cut the lead in half with a pair of runs in the
bottom of the third inning thanks to three Trinity defensive miscues.
Powell recovered and retired 11 of the last 13 batters he faced and allowed
two unearned runs, six hits, and struck out four to earn his third win of
the spring.
Included among Powell's four hits was a solo homer in the fifth
inning and an RBI single in Trinity's five-run sixth inning. The Bantams
added five runs in the ninth frame, aided by two Babson errors. Freshman
righthander Joe Forte (North Haven, CT) took the loss for the Beavers.
