Men's Soccer Team (9-3) Wins Fifth Straight

 The Trinity College men's soccer team win its only game last week, defeating previously-undefeated Middlebury College, 1-0, which was ranked ninth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national poll. The win was the fifth in a row for the Bantams and ties the College's single season win record with nine.

Senior Mike Wilson (Longmeadow, MA) scored for Trinity against Middlebury with just over a minute left in regulation. Wilson is tied for the team-lead in goals with six and has three gamewinners. Junior goalkeeper Tom Hambrick-Stowe (Lancaster, PA), who posted four saves in his sixth shutout of the season against Middlebury, is fourth in the NESCAC with a 0.83 GAA.

Trinity moves into a tie for fourth place in the NSCAA Division III New England Poll with Amherst, and received votes for the NSCAA national poll. This week's New England poll:

Trinity Men Take 4th at NESCAC's

The Trinity College men's and women's cross country teams, coached by George Suitor (eighth season) competed at the NESCAC Championships last weekend at Hamilton College.

Junior Todd Markelz (Homer, AK) came in 10th place with a time of 26:46 in the men's race to lead the Bantams to a fourth place finish. The women's team finished 11th.

Freshmen Ryan Bak (Suffield, CT) and Jim Emord (Bridgewater, MA), and senior tri-captain David Kyle (Topsfield, MA) finished 21st and tied for 27th, respectively, for the Bantams. Sophomore Caroline Leary (Bedford, MA) was the highest female finisher for Trinity, coming in 43rd place with a time of 19:46.

Trinity is currently ranked eighth in the Division III New England Poll. This week's poll:

Women's Soccer (4-8-1) Finishes With Split

The Trinity women's soccer team split two games in the final week of the 1999 season. The Bantams defeated Wesleyan, 1-0, but dropped a 4-0 decision at Middlebury College.

Sophomore midfielder Bridget Dullea (Longmeadow, MA) scored against Wesleyan, while sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Bradley (Mansfield, CT) turned away nineteen Wesleyan shots in the two games and is second in the NESCAC in saves with 139.

Field Hockey (4-10) Rounds Out Season

Trinity College field hockey team, coached by Kara Tierney (first season), began the season's final week with a 3-0 win over Keene State College but lost, 1-0, at Wesleyan University and, 4-0, at Middlebury College, in two league contests.

Junior midfielder Whitney Brown (Northfield, IL), senior back Kate Rieg (Bryn Mawr, PA), and freshman back Maria Lingnau (Mendham, NJ) each scored in the win against Keene State. Rieg, the team's only captain, and Lingnau both recorded the first goal of their Bantam careers. Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Martin (Fort Myers, FL) made a total of 30 saves in the three games. Martin set a new College single season save record with 187, surpassing Louise van der Does' 1988 total of 180.
