Wins Trinity's Bartlett Award for Service and Athletic Excellence |
Hartford, Conn., May 2 - Senior and women’s soccer and indoor and outdoor track and field captain Marisa Eddy (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named as one of two recipients of the Trinity College 2000-01 Robert R. Bartlett Award for excellence in athletics and devotion to the community and/or campus service.
Eddy also received a Blanket Award for earning at least nine varsity letters in her Trinity athletic career. She earned four each in women’s soccer, indoor track, and outdoor track for a total of 12 letters.
The 2000 Bantam women’s soccer team, coached by Michael Smith, posted a 4-8-2 overall record and a 1-7-1 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Eddy started all 14 games in the midfield, recording five assists. In her career, Eddy played in 54 games, starting 53, with three goals and seven assists for 13 points.
Eddy is a four-time All-New England runner in indoor track and field. She posted a personal and team, season-high time of 2:17.63 in the 800-meter run this season, and holds the College-record in the 800 meters at 2:14.52. Eddy was also a member of the record-setting 4x800-meter relay squad that posted a best-ever time of 9:28.54. She qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in indoor track in 1999-00 and 2000-01.
The 2000-01 Trinity women’s indoor track and field team, coached by George Suitor, finished 12th out of 22 teams at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships. The 2001 Bantam women’s outdoor track and field squad, also coached by Suitor, finished 10th out of 11 teams at the NESCAC Championships this past weekend.
At Trinity, Eddy has participated in the Trinity Center for Neighborhoods, the Graduation Pledge Initiative, and served as a teaching assistant in medical anthropology. She is the president of the senior class and will serve as the commencement speaker. A graduate of the Harvard-Westlake School, Eddy is majoring in anthropology. She is the daughter of Charles and Brenda Eddy.
