| Trinity Swimmers and Wrestlers Earn Varsity Letters and Awards |
Hartford, Conn., July 24 - Eleven Connecticut student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999-00 Trinity College wrestling team and womens and mens swimming and diving teams. The wrestling team, coached by Sebastian Amato, finished the season with a 14-11 overall record and placed fifth at the New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championships. The women's swimming and diving teams finished 3-7 and placed 15th at the NCAA Division III New England Championships, while the men's squad had a 5-5 dual mark and finished 13th at New Englands. Both swimming and diving teams were coached by Amy Heasley Williams.
Senior co-captain Andrew Lovig (Bethany, CT) received a Gold Award for having earned four varsity letters in his Bantam swimming career, while junior wrestlers Ted Govola (Rocky Hill, CT) and Michael Marcucio (Derby, CT), and junior swimmer Cory Bernard (Seymour, CT) each received a Blue Award for earning three varsity letters in his or her respective career.
Sophomore wrestler Matt Banas (Meriden, CT), freshman wrestlers Eric Egolf (Glastonbury, CT) and Anthony Marcucio (Derby, CT), junior swimmer Matt Schiller (Vernon, CT), sophomore swimmer Christian Sterling (Glastonbury, CT) and freshman swimmers Coley Dale (Bloomfield, CT) and Hilary Roberts (Orange, CT) also earned varsity letters for the Trinity wrestling and swimming and diving squads.
Massachusetts
