Three Regional All-Americans

Hartford, Conn., May 14 - Trinity College senior tri-captain Ashley Taylor (Washington, D.C.), junior Maria Lingnau (Mendham, N.J.), and freshman Beatrice Gratry (Hunting Valley, Ohio) were selected to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Regional All-American Second Team.

The Trinity women, coached by Kara Tierney (3rd season, 19-23), had an 8-7 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the league, which qualified them for a first-ever (New England Small College Athletic Conference) NESCAC Championship Tournament appearance. The Bantams lost at Amherst, 11-6, in the first round.

Taylor, a 2002 All-NESCAC second team selection, started all 15 games at attack and finished with a team-high 22 assists and 13 goals for 35 points. With 56 goals and a College-record 62 career assists, Taylor has amassed a total of 118 points in her Bantam career. Also, a IWLCA Regional All-American in 2001, she set a new Trinity record for assists in that season with 33 dishes.

Gratry, also a All-NESCAC second team selection this spring, started all 15 games at attack and finished with a league-high 55 goals and seven assists for a team-high 62 points. Gratry also totaled 41 ground balls, 28 turnovers caused, and a team-high, 51 draw controls, and named as the NESCAC Player of the Week once this season. She was also a second team All-NESCAC and Regional All-American selection in field hockey for the Bantams this fall.

Lingnau started all 15 games at defense for the Bantams, and finished with one goal, 48 ground balls, and a team-high, 61 turnovers caused.
