Hartford, Conn., Aug. 8 - Andrew McPhee (Plymouth, Mass.) has been hired as the head women’s ice hockey coach at Trinity College. He will take over a team that posted a best ever 6-13-1 overall record in 2002 and finished eighth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
For the past two seasons, McPhee has served as assistant women’s ice hockey and football coach at Trinity. In addition, he was a graduate assistant within the Trinity athletic department. McPhee will continue in his role with the Bantam football squad as a wide receivers coach.
McPhee earned his bachelor’s degree in 1998 from Middlebury, where he starred in football and baseball. He served as assistant women’s ice hockey, football, and baseball coach at his alma mater in 1999-00. While at Middlebury, McPhee played an integral role in the team’s Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship titles in 1999 and 2000 and its American Women’s Collegiate Hockey Association Division III National Championship title in 2000.
“McPhee has quality coaching experience both at Trinity and traditional women’s ice hockey power Middlebury to our head coaching position”, states Trinity Athletic Director Richard Hazelton. “We are ecstatic to have a young coach of his ability coaching two sports.”
