Several Trinity Swimmers Earn
All-New England Honors

Hartford, Conn., May 1 - Seven members of the Trinity College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, both of which finished 10th in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships, were named to the 2001-02 All-New England Team.

The Bantam women, coached by Kristen Noone, finished the 2001-02 dual meet season with a 3-7 record, while the men, also coached by Noone, finished their 2001-02 dual meet regular season with an 0-10 mark.

Sophomore Julia Kaye (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) was named as an All-New England Women’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection in two events for recording the 11th best time in the region in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:28.24) and 15th best time in 500-yard freestyle (5:20.32). Classmate Jennifer Bartlett (Marblehead, Mass.) was also named as an All-New England Men’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection for recording the 16th best time in the 50-yard breaststroke (33.51 s).

Freshman Elizabeth Ramaley (Old Greenwich, Conn.) was named as an All-New England Women’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection for recording the 15th best time in the region in the 400-yard individual medley (4:52.85), while classmate Kate Mortensen (Bedford, Mass.) was named as an All-New England Men’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection for recording the 16th best time in the region in the 50-yard backstroke (30.31 s).

Junior Chris Rorer (Villanova, Pa.) was named an All-New England Men’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection in three events for recording the ninth best time in the region in the 50-yard breaststroke (27.97 s), the 12th best time in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.04), and the 16th best time in the 400-yard individual medley (4:20.39). Classmate Jesse Hammond (New London, Conn.) was named as an All-New England Men’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection in two events. Hammond recorded the 11th best time in the region in the 50-yard freestyle (22.07 s) and the 14th best time in the 50-yard butterfly. Senior captain Christian Sterling (Glastonbury, Conn.) was named as an All-New England Men’s Swimming and Diving Honorable Mention selection for recording the 16th best time in the region in the 1,650-freestyle (17:09.67). Hammond’s time in the 50-yard butterfly and Rorer’s performance in the 50-yard breaststroke set new Trinity records.
