Squash Captains Named as Trinity's 
Top Senior Scholar Athletes for 2001-02

Hartford, Conn., May 9 -Men’s squash co-captain Rohan Juneja (Bombay, India) and women’s squash co-captain Samantha Lewins (Bromley, Zimbabwe) were named as the recipients of Trinity College’s Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Award and the Susan E. Martin Award as the College’s Outstanding Senior Scholar Athletes. The ECAC Award is presented annually to the College’s top male scholar athlete and the Martin Award is presented each year to the College’s top female scholar athlete.

Senior Samantha Lewins

The Bantam men’s squash squad, coached by Paul Assaiante, posted a fourth consecutive undefeated dual match season at a best-ever 19-0 and won its fourth straight National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Association (NISRA) Team Championship in 2000-01.

The Bantam women’s squash squad, coached by Wendy Bartlett, posted a perfect 11-0 record and captured its first Women’s Intercollegiate Squash Association (WISA) Howe Cup Team Championship title.

Juneja, a co-captain this season, posted a 13-0 record this season, including a 3-0 record in the NISRA Team Championship Tournament. An All-American performer last season, Juneja finished his career with a 54-5 record (5th most wins in College history) for a .915 winning percentage (3rd best Trinity career mark). Juneja is a graduate of H. R. College in India and maintains a 3.45 GPA as an economics and international studies major at Trinity.

Lewins, a three-time NESCAC Winter All-Academic, posted an 8-6 record this season including a 7-3 dual match mark, playing the No. 4 position for the Bantams. An All-American performer in 1999-00 and 2000-01, Lewins was Trinity’s Junior Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season and was initiated into Connecticut’s Phi Beta Kappa this spring. The No. 24-ranked player in all of intercollegiate squash this season, Lewins finished her career with a 43-29 record (6th most wins in College history). Lewins is a graduate of the Chisiple School in Zimbabwe, and maintains a 3.74 GPA as a history major at Trinity.
