Tassie and Alexandre Receive NESCAC Honors for Trinity Men's Lacrosse Trinity College

Hartford, Conn., May 9 – Trinity senior tri-captain Mark Tassie (Hopewell, N.J.) was selected to the 2001 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men’s Lacrosse First Team, and freshman Tony Alexandre (Bernardsville, N.J.) was chosen as the NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year.

Trinity posted a 6-8 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the league, which was the fifth-best in the conference. The Bantams qualified for the NESCAC Championship Tournament as the No. 5 seed, but lost, 11-7, at No. 4-seeded Connecticut College in the first round.

Tassie, a first team All-NESCAC and an honorable mention All-New England selection last season, as well as a second team all-league player in 1999, started all 14 games at midfielder for Head Coach Mike Darr. He led the Bantams in scoring with 34 points on a team-high 27 goals and seven assists. In his career, Tassie played in 52 games, starting 50, with 106 goals (fifth all-time) and 44 assists for 150 points (sixth all-time).

Alexandre started all 14 games on defense for the Bantams, helping the young Trinity backfield hold opponents to 27.3 shots per game.
