Trinity Winter Athletes Earn Postseason Honors Trinity College

Hartford, CT, May 8, 2000- Several Trinity College athletes have been recognized for their outstanding seasons this winter with post-season accolades. They include:

Men's Basketball

Senior forward Rory Neal (Springfield, MA) was named to the 1999-00 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Star Second Team. Neal played in 21 games, starting all of them, and led the Bantams in scoring at 16.5 points per game, rebounding with 10.8 per game, blocked shots with 36, and field goal percentage at 62.1 percent (139 of 224). Neal, who also totaled 28 assists, led Trinity in scoring 11 times and rebounding 19 times.

Sophomore guard Scott Wallach (Scarsdale, NY) was selected to the NESCAC All-StarThird Team. Wallach played in 21 games, starting 19, and led the Bantams in three-point field goal percentage at 43.3 percent (29 of 67). Wallach, who also averaged 13.0 points per game, totaled 69 assists and 25 steals, and shot 72.5 percent from the foul line (29 of 40). He led Trinity in scoring four times.

Women's Basketball

Senior forward Gretchen MacColl (Portland, OR) was named to the 1999-00 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) All-Star First Team. MacColl started all 27 games and led the Bantams in scoring with 15.3 points per game, rebounding with 10.1 per game, blocked shots with 17, and field goal percentage at 59.4 percent (148 of 249). MacColl, who also totaled 49 assists and 29 steals, and shot 68.6 percent from the foul line (116 of 169). She led Trinity in scoring 11 times and rebounding 13 times.

MacColl was also selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III All-New England First Team, the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-New England First Team, and the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (WBCA) All-New England Team. In addition, MacColl was selected to play in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Game.

Senior co-captain guard Megan Shutte (Allentown, PA) was selected to the NESCAC All-Defensive Team. Shutte started all 27 games and led the Bantams in assists with 92. Shutte also had 27 steals and averaged 4.4 points per game.

Men's Ice Hockey

Senior tri-captain forward Dan Lyons (West Haven, CT) was selected to play in the 6th Annual Eastern College Division Senior All-Star Game. Lyons played in all 27 games and finished second on the team in scoring with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists.
