Egolf and Foresi Earn Academic All-American for Trinity Wrestling Trinity College

Hartford, Conn., April 5– Sophomores Eric Egolf (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Mark Foresi (West Springfield, Mass.) were each named as National Division III Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-Americans.

Each student-athlete must have finished at least fourth in the conference qualifier or sixth in the regional qualifier, have won at least half of his dual matches, and at least 67 percent of his total matches. The student-athlete must have a grade-point average of 3.2 for the previous academic year or as a cumulative average for his academic career.

The Bantam wrestling squad, coached by Sebastian Amato posted a 15-9-1 record in 2000-01 and captured its first-ever New England College Conference Wrestling Association (NECCWA) Championship title. Trinity also finished 14th in the nation in team grade-point average at 3.089.

Egolf compiled a 14-5 record this season at 149 and 157 pounds, including a perfect 10-3 mark in dual matches, with five pins. Foresi compiled a 25-4 record this season at 141 pounds, including a perfect 19-0 mark in dual matches, with five pins. Foresi, who earned All-NECCWA honors for the second straight season and was the 1999-00 NECCWA Rookie of the Year, competed in his second straight NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament this March and won three out of six matches to earn All-American honors in sixth place.
