Davie and Shutte Are Co-Winners of Trinity Club of Hartford Award Trinity College

HARTFORD, Conn., June 13 -- Senior women's squash co-captain Gail Davie (Cheshire, England) and senior women's basketball co-captain Megan Shutte (Allentown, PA) were named co-winners of the 1999-00 Trinity Club of Hartford Award as the top senior female athletes at Trinity College.

Davie and Shutte were presented the awards by Trinity College President Evan Dobelle at a ceremony on May 1 at the President's house. They were also honored by Dobelle and Director of Athletics Richard Hazelton at the College's annual Senior Banquet that evening.

Davie earned second team All-American honors this season for the Bantam women's squash team, compiling a 13-5 singles match record. Davie, who earned All-American honors in each of her three seasons, had a 34-20 career record at Trinity. In 1999-00, Davie helped the team to a College-record 15-3 mark and a best-ever, third-place finish at the Howe Cup Team Championships.

Shutte was a NESCAC All-Defensive team selection this season for the Bantam women's basketball team. She averaged 4.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game and totaled 92 assists, while helping the team to a College-record 22-5 final record and its first-ever ECAC Division III New England title.
