| Trinity's Jacobs Earns All-American Honors in Women's Lacrosse | ![]() |
Hartford, Conn., May 31 - Trinity senior tri-captain Mary Jacobs (Malvern, Pa./Shipley) was selected to the 2001 Brine/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) Division III National All-American Third Team and the US Lacrosse Division III All-American honorable mention.
Trinity posted an 8-8 overall record and a 3-6 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), which was tied for sixth-best in the league. The Bantams qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship Tournament, losing, 11-8, at Wheaton College in the quarterfinal round.
Jacobs, a second team All-NESCAC and All-New England selection this spring and a first team All-NESCAC, All-New England, and All-American selection in 2000, started all 16 games on defense for Head Coach Kara Tierney, scoring two goals. The Most Valuable Player of the 2001 Seven Sisters Tournament this spring, Jacobs led the Bantams in both ground balls with 56 and turnovers caused with 84, and added 22 draw controls. In her career, Jacobs has played in 55 games with five goals and three assists. She was also selected to play in the IWLCA Division III North/South Senior All-Star game in June.
A 1997 graduate of the Shipley School, Jacobs maintains a 3.1 grade point average as an education and sociology major at Trinity. She is also a three-year starter for the Bantam field hockey squad. Jacobs is the daughter of Pat and Fran Jacobs.
