HARTFORD, Conn., June 14 -- Men's cross country and men's indoor and outdoor track and field co-captain Todd Markelz (Homer, AK) has been named the 1999-00 Bob Harron Award winner after being selected as the top junior male scholar-athlete at Trinity College.

Markelz was presented the award by Trinity College President Evan Dobelle at a ceremony on May 1 at the President's house. He was also honored by President Dobelle and Director of Athletics Richard Hazelton at the College's annual Senior Banquet that evening.

Markelz earned All-NESCAC and All-New England honors this season and qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships for the Bantam men's cross country team, which finished eighth at the NCAA Division III New England Championships. Markelz also earned All-New England in indoor track and field as a member of the distance medley relay team, and All-NESCAC in outdoor track and field this season.

Markelz was a member of the NESCAC All-Academic Team in the fall and spring seasons of 1998-99 and 1999-00. Rorer has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average as a computer science major.
