Hartford, Conn., Apr. 5 - Trinity College women’s basketball junior center Kate McCloskey (Uxbridge, Mass.) and men’s basketball senior tri-captain swingman Colin Tabb (Somers, Conn.) were each honored with post-season awards by several organizations this season.

McCloskey was named to the d3hoops.com All-Northeast Region First Team, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England All-Star Second Team, the d3hoops.com All-American Fourth Team, and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA)/Kodak Division III All-American Honorable Mention. Tabb was named as the ECAC Division III New England Player of the Year and to its All-Star First Team, the d3hoops.com All-Northeast Region First Team, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC)/Pontiac All-American First Team, the DIII News All-American Second Team, and the d3hoops.com All-American Fourth Team.

The Trinity women, coached by Maureen Pine, posted a 12-12 overall record and a 5-4 mark in the NESCAC, qualifying for its first-ever NESCAC Championship Tournament. The Bantams lost at Bates, 77-59, in the opening round.

The Trinity men, coached by Stan Ogrodnik, posted a 19-6 overall record and an 8-1 record in the NESCAC to finish atop the league for the second straight season. The Bantams lost to Amherst in the NESCAC Championship finals, 85-78, but still qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament for the fourth time. Trinity advanced to the second round with a 75-47 win over Colby-Sawyer, but lost, 80-61, at Brockport State in the second round.

McCloskey, who started all 24 games at center, led the NESCAC in scoring (18.1 ppg), rebounding (10.9 per game), and field goal percentage at 58.7 percent (183-312). She was named as the NESCAC Player of the Week twice, the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Division III Player of the Week twice, and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Player of the Week once this season. McCloskey was also selected to the all-tournament squad at the Swarthmore Tip-Off Tournament.

Tabb, who started all 25 games at guard, led the NESCAC in scoring (24.8 ppg) and finished among the league leaders in several categories. He was fourth in the league in assists with 4.2 per game, and seventh in rebounding at 7.4 per game. Tabb was also the top free throw shooter in the NESCAC, and among the best in the nation, with an 86.8 percentage (171-197) from the charity stripe.

An All-NESCAC First Team, All-ECAC Division III New England First Team, and an NABC All-Northeast Region Second Team selection last season, Tabb was named as the NESCAC Player of the Week twice this season. He was also selected to the all-tournament squad at the Rutgers-Newark Tip-Off Tournament.
