Trinity College

Hartford, Conn., May 10 - Trinity College men’s squash coach and athletic development director Paul Assaiante (Simsbury, Conn.) was awarded the prestigious Arthur H. Hughes award by the College faculty. The award honors a junior member of the faculty for his or her excellence in teaching. The presentation of this award by the faculty to a member of the Trinity coaching staff illustrates the high level of cooperation and mutual respect for each other’s mission that exists between the academic and the athletic departments at the College. It is this cooperation and mutual respect that allows Trinity to develop well-rounded student-athletes with a commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

The 2001-02 Bantam men’s squash squad, coached Assaiante, posted a fourth consecutive undefeated dual match season at a best-ever 19-0 and won its fourth straight National Intercollegiate Squash Racquets Association (NISRA) Team Championship title. Coach Assaiante teaches various physical education and sports classes within the Trinity College Physical Education program, which stresses good health, physical fitness, and lifetime sport activities.
