Gratry Selected as Women’s Rookie of the Year Hartford, Conn., May 8 - Trinity College senior tri-captain Ashley Taylor (Washington, D.C.), freshman Beatrice Gratry (Hunting Valley, Ohio) and junior Ravi Pillay (Church Falls, Va.) were selected to the 2002 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Lacrosse Second Team and Men’s Lacrosse Second Team, respectively. Gratry was also selected as the 2002 NESCAC Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year. |

The Trinity women, coached by Kara Tierney (3rd season, 19-23), had an 8-7 overall record and a 13-3-6 mark in the league, which qualified them for a first-ever NESCAC Championship Tournament appearance. The Bantams lost at Amherst, 11-6, in the first round..
The Bantam men, coached by Brian Silcott (1st season), finished the year with a 2-11 overall record and a 2-7 league mark. Trinity finished in ninth place in the conference, and failed to qualify for a post-season bid.
Taylor, a second team Regional All-American selection last season, started all 15 games at attack and finished with a team-high 22 assists and 13 goals for 35 points. With 56 goals and a College-record 62 career assists, Taylor has amassed a total of 118 points in her Bantam career. She set a new Trinity record for assists in a season in 2001 with 33 dishes.
Gratry, also an All-NESCAC second team selection in field hockey this fall, started all 15 games at attack and finished with a league-high 55 goals and seven assists for a team-high 62 points. Gratry also totaled 41 ground balls, 28 turnovers caused, and a team-high, 51 draw controls. She was named as the NESCAC Player of the Week once this season.
Pillay played in all 13 games at attack for the Bantam men’s squad, and finished with a team-high 18 assists, along with 14 goals, to lead Trinity in scoring with 32 points.
