Student-Athletes Earn Varsity Letters for Trinity Fall Sports Teams Trinity College

Massachusetts

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - 13 Massachusetts student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College field hockey, volleyball, and women's tennis teams.

The Bantam field hockey team, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record, while the volleyball team, coached by Fran Vandermeer, finished 18-15. The Trinity women's tennis squad, coached by Wendy Bartlett, finished with a 7-3 record and third in New England.

Senior goal keeper Melissa Church (Wayland, MA) and senior forward Katie Watts(Norfolk, MA) both received a Gold Award for having earned four varsity letters in their Bantam field hockey career.

Sophomore forwards Heather Standring (Spencer, MA) and Brooke Evans (Marston Mills, MA), sophomore midfielders Corinne Gagnon(Haverhill, MA) and Kaitlin Wilson (Concord, MA) all earned varsity letters for the Bantam field hockey squad.

Juniors Angela DeMartino (West Barnstable, MA) and Megan Konienczny (Greenfield, MA) both received a Blue Award for having earned three varsity letters in their Bantam volleyball career.

Senior tri-captain Caroline Hughes (Lowell, MA) received a Gold Award for having earned four varsity letters and senior tri-captain Erica Johnson (Harvard, MA) received a Blue Award for having earned three varsity letters in their respective Bantam tennis careers. Freshman Courtney Sargeant (Attleboro, MA) earned her first varsity letter for the Bantam tennis squad.

Pennsylvania

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Three Pennsylvania student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College field hockey team. The Bantams, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record

Senior captain back Kate Rieg (Drexel Hill, PA) received the Gold Award for having earned four varsity letters and junior back Kim Franzoni (Gwynedd Valley, PA) received the Blue Award for having earned three varsity letters for the Bantam field hockey squad. Junior midfielder Mary Jacobs (Malvern, PA) earned her second varsity letter for the field hockey team.

California

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Two California student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College volleyball team. The Bantams, coached by Fran Vandermeer, finished with an 18-15 record.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristin Hagan (Kentfield, CA) and freshman setter Christine Horton (San Marino, CA) both earned varsity letters for the Trinity volleyball squad

Maryland

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Three Maryland student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College field hockey team. The Bantams, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record.

Freshmen forward Emily Fleisher (Potomac, MD), freshman back Susan Hoppock (Chevy Chase, MD), and freshman midfielder Laura Davis (Bethesda, MD) all earned their first varsity letter for the Trinity field hockey team.

Illinois

Hartford, Conn., February 14- Trinity College junior midfielder Whitney Brown (Northfield, IL) received a Blue Award for having earned her third varsity letter as a member of the Trinity field hockey squad. The Bantams, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record.

New Jersey

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Two New Jersey student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College field hockey and women's tennis teams.

The Bantam field hockey team, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record, while the women's tennis squad, coached by Wendy Bartlett, finished with a 7-3 record and third in New England.

Freshman back Maria Lingnau (Mendham, NJ) was awarded her first varsity letter for the Trinity field hockey squad.

Senior tri-captain Heidi Polsen (Chester, NJ) earned a Blue Award for having earned three varsity letters for the Trinitywomen's tennis team.

Washington

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Trinity College sophmore Rebekah Mate (Newport, WA) earned her second varsity letter as a member of the 1999 Trinity women’s tennis team. The Bantams, coached by Wendy Bartlett, finished with a 7-3 record and third in New England.

Florida

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Two Florida student-athletes were awarded varsity letters as members of the 1999 Trinity College field hockey and volleyball teams.

The Bantam field hockey team, coached by Kara Tierney, finished the season with a 4-10 record, while the volleyball team, coached by Fran Vandermeer, finished 18-15.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Martin (Fort Myers, FL) was awarded her second varsity letter for the Trinity field hockey squad.

Freshman outside hitter Isabelle Krusen (Tampa, FL) received her first varsity letter for the Bantam volleyball team.

Michigan

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Trinity College sophomore Beth Landry (Brighton, MI) was awarded her second varsity letter as a member of the Trinity College volleyball team. The Bantams, coached by Fran Vandermeer, finished with an 18-15 record.

New York

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Trinity College senior captain Harleigh Leach (Galway, NY) received a Gold Award for having earned four varsity letters in her Trinity volleyball career.

Texas

Hartford, Conn., February 14, 2000 - Trinity College sophomore opposite hitter Molly Roach (Fort Worth, TX) earned her first varsity letter as a member of the 1999 Trinity volleyball team. The Bantams, coached by Fran Vandermeer, finished with an 18-15 record.
