| Phelps and Hood Earn Bartlett Awards as Trinity Athletes in the Community |
The awards are given to the male and female athletes who achieve athletic excellence while also playing an active role on the campus and the Greater Hartford community.
Phelps and Hood were presented the awards by Trinity College President Evan Dobelle at a ceremony on Monday, May 1 at the President's house. They were also honored by Dobelle and Director of Athletics Richard Hazelton at the College's annual Senior Banquet that evening.
Phelps was a two-year starter at linebacker for the Bantam football squad. He finished third on the team in tackles in 1999 with 51 and had five taackles for losses. Phelps helped Trinity record a 5-3 record.
Hood was a starter at forward for the Bantam women's soccer team, which finished with a 4-8-1 mark in 1999. She led the team in scoring with four goals, including two game-winners. Hood also earned All-New England in indoor track and field as a member of the women's distance medley relay team.
