Hartford, Conn., May 21 - Kilheme Cowan (Newark, N.J.), a 2002 graduate of Sacred Heart University, and David Jones (Bangor, Pa.), a 2001 graduate of Muhlenberg College, have been hired as assistant coaches for the Trinity College football team. The Bantams, coached by Chuck Priore (3rd season, 8-8), finished tied for fourth in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with a 4-4 record last fall.
Cowan, who will assist with the Trinity running backs, earned a bachelor-of-science degree in sports management from Sacred Heart this spring, where he was a four-year letterwinner in football and an all-conference running back and an all-conference and an All-American defensive back and kick returner. Cowan helped Sacred Heart record an undefeated season in 2001-02, and most recently assisted with the defensive backfield at his alma mater during the 2002 spring season.
Jones, who will coach the Trinity defensive line and serve as a graduate assistant in the Trinity athletic department, was as an assistant offensive line coach with particular emphasis on the tight end position at Lafayette College last fall. Jones earned a bachelor-of-science degree in biology from Muhlenberg in 2001, where he was a three-year letterwinner in football, captain as a senior, and an all-conference and an All-American defensive lineman. Also a letterwinner in the shot put and captain of the Muhlenberg track and field teams, Jones transferred to Muhlenberg from Lehigh where he played football for one season.
