Assaiante, which has led the 2002-03 Trinity men’s squash team to its fifth consecutive undefeated season at 19-0, a fifth straight Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Team Championship (Potter Trophy) title, and 90 consecutive dual match victories, won five matches to capture the age 50-and-over national title at Trinity’s George A.Kellner Squash Center in March. Assaiante did not lose a game in the five matches and defeated Tom Rumpler (Kennesaw, Ga.), 9-5, 9-3, 9-7, in the finals.
Quick began a spectacular spring season by capturing the USSRA Singles Championship (S. L. Green) title at Trinity on March 16, downing two-time defending champion Damian Walker in the finals. On April 4, Quick teamed with Erick Vicek to win the USSRA Doubles title at the Denver Athletic Club. They defeated the top-seed duo in the final match, 3-1. He greatly increased his chances of joining the United States World Team, also coached by Assaiante, with his outstanding play this year.
