Trinity Men's Squash Hosts Undefeated Princeton in Dual Match Season Finale |

Hartford, Conn., Feb. 14 -- The Trinity College men’s squash team will host the Princeton University Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. The four-time defending College Squash Association (CSA) National Champion Bantams, who have won 86 consecutive matches after a 9-0 win at Wesleyan on Feb. 12, are ranked No. 1 in the nation. Trinity, coached by Paul Assaiante (ninth season, 144-10), is 15-0 this season and has won 133 out of a 135 individual matches. |

The Trinity men feature seven of the top 25 ranked players in intercollegiate squash, led by junior Michael Ferreira (Stamford, England) at No. 2. Sophomore Bernardo Samper (Bogota, Colombia) is No. 3, followed by senior co-captain Nicholas Kyme (Pembroke, Bermuda) at No. 11, sophomore Regardt Schonborn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) at No. 13, freshman Yvain Badan (Lausanne, Switzerland) at No. 18, senior co-captain Jonathan Smith (Leeds, England) at No. 19, and junior Nadeem Osman (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) at No. 24. Ferreira, Samper, the defending CSA Singles Champion, and Kyme were first team All-Americans, and Osman was a second team All-American last season. Senior Thaddeus Roberts (Philadelphia, Pa.) leads the Bantams with a 12-0 record this season, while classmate Carl Baglio (Toronto, Ontario) is 10-0, and freshmen Badan, Tripp Kyle (Jenkintown, Pa.), and Nick Raho (Rye, N.Y) are all 9-0.
Princeton is 8-0 and ranked No. 2 in the nation after a 7-2 win against Harvard on Sunday. Freshman Yasser El-Halaby (Cairo, Egypt) is the nation’s top-ranked player, while senior Will Evans (Auckland, New Zealand) is ranked No. 5, senior David Yik (North Vancouver, British Columbia) is No. 6 and senior Dan Rutherford (Calgary, Alberta) is No. 17. Harvard dealt the Trinity men their last regular season loss, 5-4, in the final dual match of the 1997-98 season in New Jersey, but the Bantams have won six matches in a row against the Tigers.
